This Refund & Cancellation Policy forms part of our Terms of Service and explains how billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds work at SMESS.
When you choose an auto-renewing plan you expressly authorise QUANTUM BITS (operating SMESS) to debit your card via Paystack on each renewal date for the same amount, until you cancel. We retain only a Paystack-issued authorisation token (not your full card details), the last four digits, card brand and expiry. You will receive an email receipt after every successful renewal and an email alert after any failed attempt.
Reminders include the amount, renewal date, and a one-click link to cancel.
You may cancel at any time from Dashboard → Subscription → Cancel, or by emailing sales@smess.io. Cancellation stops all future automatic charges immediately. Your plan remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep API access, allowances, and connected sessions until that date.
SMESS is a digital service that is delivered and consumed immediately on activation. By selecting "Activate now" at checkout you expressly request immediate performance and (where applicable under EU Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(m)) acknowledge that you waive your statutory 14-day cooling-off right for digital content. Subject to that, refunds are granted as follows:

If we cannot charge your card on the renewal date we will retry up to 3 times over 5 days and email you after each failure. If all attempts fail, your account moves to expired status, API keys are suspended, and your data is retained for 90 days during which you may reactivate by paying any outstanding amount.

We acknowledge within 2 business days and resolve within 10 business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method — bank settlement typically takes a further 5–10 business days depending on your card issuer.
Please contact us first before raising a chargeback with your bank. Charging back without prior contact constitutes a breach of these Terms and will result in immediate account suspension and recovery of associated bank fees. Once a chargeback is raised the refund process under Section 7 is no longer available for that transaction.
If we change our renewal price we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You may cancel before that date with no further charge. Existing annual subscribers are honoured at the price they paid until the end of the current annual period.
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under Ghanaian law, the EU Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU) or the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. Where local mandatory law grants you a stronger right, that right prevails.
